WHAT İS WPS (WELDİNG PROCEDURE SPECİFİCATİON)?

What is WPS (Welding Procedure Specification)?

What is this WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) ? Turkish equivalent of WPS is the Source Procedure Specification.

WPS, depending on the material type, type and thickness in a welding process, can be used for wire, gas, voltage, feed rate, amperage etc. It is a document where variables such as

Welding parameters may differ depending on the person, experience and knowledge of the staff play an important role. Keeping the heat input calculated under the parameters such as feed rate, voltage and amperes below a certain level in order to prevent unwanted metallurgical transformations in the welding of some sensitive materials; It is desirable that the material does not rise to very high temperatures or that the molten metal does not solidify too quickly. Because during the process, unwanted durability can cause problems such as cracks and hardening.
For this reason, all these parameters are adjusted according to technical data, technical personnel guidance and experiences and recorded via a WPS.

In cases where it will be used for welder qualification according to WPS, EN 9606; or if the boiled part will be used for a method test, the tests specified in EN 15614 series are applied to determine whether the required technical properties are obtained from the welded joint.
